Vickery Holman achieved £50,000 in Rates Savings for Property Undergoing Refurbishment Works
We acted on behalf of the new owner of a large warehouse building in Exeter which was being completely refurbished and upgraded prior to letting. The works were substantial including the removal of cladding.
The property was still entered in the Rating List and so our client was being charged rates whilst the refurbishment was being done. They had received a bill for over £50,000.
Even though the works were nearly complete when we were asked to help by prompt action, we still managed to initiate a Check and Challenge in time with all the detailed evidence required to prove to the VOA the rateable value should be deleted.
As a result of our successful challenge the whole bill of over £50,000 was cancelled and any payments made refunded.
