Having joined Vickery Holman about a year and a half ago, joining the Truro office’s Building Surveying team in the summer of 2022, I am blown away at how quickly the time has flown by. However, when I think back at what I have achieved thanks to Vickery Holman within a relatively short space of time it reinforces the fact that I made the right decision joining the company.
I currently spend a large portion of my time involved in Contract Administration, dilapidation works, and Land Registry compliant drawings, all of which have helped my confidence and independence grow in leaps and bounds. These have seen me inspecting a plethora of commercial buildings, such as shops, industrial units, churches and hotels. I have also had involvement in portfolios of residential property, primarily from a Contract Administration role. Within this I have spent time managing contracts (and contractors) and defining specifications of works. I have particularly enjoyed my involvement in design works. These have ranged from new build holiday villas to exposed structures.
Alongside this I have continued to progress with my APC through a blend of on the job and structured training. Vickery Holman has remained flexible in allowing me to attend training when needed to allow me to continue to develop professionally. Our last internal graduate training day was held last September, which was a great opportunity not only to gain some insight from qualified colleagues, but also to catch up with fellow graduates from our other offices.
