It would not be an understatement to say the last few years have been an extraordinary challenge for the property market. Through the pandemic different sectors have seen huge change, sometimes only for a short period of time whilst in other areas the impact is still being seen and felt today. In almost every part of the market Vickery Holman operate in property owners, occupiers and advisors have had to embrace the change in order to ensure that survival continues and where possible opportunities for growth are found and actioned.
During the same period we have been fortunate to continue growth of the General Practice team across all four offices. Bristol now hosts the largest department in the company having only just celebrated its 5 year anniversary. Exeter continues to grow not only in staff numbers but also area of coverage with its reach now extending into West Dorset through staff recruitment. Plymouth has seen the department double in size enabling senior staff to provide more dedicated time to valued clients requiring specialist expertise such as Compulsory Purchase and Leasehold Enfranchisement. Truro tells a similar story with additional staff meaning we can provide the bespoke service in lease advisory, business rates and development areas of work that clients enjoy the benefit of.
The main area of growth I am most proud of is with our graduates. Working towards the assessment to become a Member of RICS has been difficult during periods of furlough, home/hybrid working and a property market that has been changing day to day during the most volatile periods. To see their focus and dedication rewarded by achieving their goal is a great boost to all of us that work with them day to day and the support team who are there for them throughout. General Practice has successfully helped 5 graduates achieve qualification in the last two years with 4 candidates heading for their assessment in 2022.
As we hopefully head out of the pandemic period greater stability in the marketplace should ensure that the SW market is well placed to continue growing, matching that seen within General Practice in Vickery Holman.
