It has now reached the two-year mark since I joined Vickery Holman back in 2021 as a General Practice Graduate Surveyor, and this week is my last week in the Bristol office before moving south to the Exeter office.
In March this year I returned to the Valuation team and to date have carried out a variety of valuations for different purposes, including Charity Act valuations, Loan Security valuations and Asset valuations for private clients. I am now involved in instructions from start to finish from arranging the inspection to sending the final valuation report to the client. This month I have inspected and valued a range of property types including a residential development site, industrial unit, a house of multiple occupation (HMO), and a residential block of flats, all of which were a mix of owner occupied or tenanted.
Alongside my valuation work I have retained some Business Rates jobs and submitted my first challenge statement to the VOA last month, following a check application to remove the property from the rating list whilst it undergoes significant works. In recent weeks, I have had several successful checks come back which included both merges and splits of properties.
Working alongside my colleagues in the Bristol office has provided me with a wealth of knowledge and ongoing support regarding the APC, which I am due to sit in the spring. I am in the process of identifying a potential case study and starting to draft my summary of experience.
We were delighted to host the GPS team in Bristol last month where we had a tour of the Clifton Suspension Bridge.
